Shouldn't have any real trouble drawing this game after 19.b3. Then you can connect your rooks and play Rd1. If he trades a pair of rooks, at least your rook will own the d-file, and after Ne4..c4,bxc bxc, those doubled pawns are easy pickings for rook and knight tandem. Should devolved into a very drawish position with pawns on one side of board.

For example, 19.b3 b4, 20.Ne4 c4, 21.bxc Bxc??, 22.Nd6+ wins the bishop.LinuxGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15764940044950170053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23075362.post-45127882494428632332011-12-27T16:32:44.817-05:002011-12-27T16:32:44.817-05:00f3 is a slow, strategic line (but quite fast enoug...f3 is a slow, strategic line (but quite fast enough against the Benko Gambit).

The d6 push is a quick, open game where White has sacked a center pawn, and Black gets to develop around that theme, and end up with more space than usual.

Against Expert+, this d6 push should lose every time from a practical perspective. Sure, you could have defended like a Master+ and still drawn the game. Don't let higher-rated players beat you with technique, particularly in the opening. That's generally how they get the bulk of their rating points.

Stick with playing the right big ideas. Your natural bent seems to be to do very well with the small picture. You have been studying strategic structures a lot, so in the last two years you've also done quite well with the big picture. At fast time-controls, the big picture counts for even more than at a 4 or 6 hr game where players dig up every opportunity that the board presents.LinuxGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15764940044950170053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23075362.post-6239620917374072782011-12-25T10:01:37.621-05:002011-12-25T10:01:37.621-05:00Merry Christmas!Merry Christmas!Temposchluckerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07977208394417444785noreply@blogger.com
